HSBC has hired Scott Sohn, interest rate trader at Citigroup in Seoul, for a similar role. "We're beefing up our rates trading desk," said D.J. Lee, treasurer at HSBC in Seoul, noting the firm is planning a few additional hires in the coming months.
Lee said increasing market opportunities, such as overseas hedge funds stepping into the interest rate market, means the bank needs more hands on deck. Prior to joining Citi, Sohn was a manager on the interest rate desk at Korea Development Bank (DW, 10/28/02).
