IXIS Corporate & Investment Bank last week brought aboard two equity derivative marketers from Calyon in Hong Kong. The hires are part of the French house's buildup in the region. "This helps to increase our product capability in Asia ex-Japan," said Michel Labrousse, senior executive officer at IXIS in Hong Kong. The firm hired Shirley Lau as a director and Jessie Fung as an assistant v.p. in equity derivative sales in Hong Kong. Labrousse said the two will focus on the Hong Kong retail market as well as private banks in the region. Lau and Fung reunite with Derek Lee, head of equity derivative sales for Asia ex-Japan in Hong Kong, who joined from Calyon late last year.
IXIS established an office in Hong Kong last October to boost its marketing effort in Asia (DW, 10/29) and subsequently has made a wave of hires for both fixed income and equity derivatives. Regional trading and quantitative functions are centralized out of its Tokyo hub.
