UBS has hired Sergei Lebed, an official at private equity consulting firm Moore, Clayton & Co. in London, as a director in emerging markets derivative marketing in London. Lebed reports to London-based managing directors Richard Luddington, head of debt capital markets for Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and Philippe Jordan, head of corporate and public sector derivatives marketing in Europe. Lebed, Luddington and Jordan could not be reached for comment. UBS spokeswoman Samantha Smith confirmed Lebed's hire.
At Moore, Clayton & Co., Lebed worked in the energy group and focused on the Eastern European market. Dan Gulick, managing director in MCC's energy group in New York, confirmed his departure. One official said a number of houses, including JPMorgan, Citigroup, Credit Suisse First Boston and Goldman Sachs, are looking to expand their emerging markets efforts out of London, where the focus lies on Eastern Europe.
