William Shek, managing director and head of interest rate trading at Merrill Lynch in Tokyo, is set to join HSBC in Hong Kong, to run regional currency derivatives trading. Traders at HSBC said Shek will be a replacement for Samuel Koh, Asian head of domestic derivatives trading, who left earlier this year (DW, 3/18). Shek, who joins in the coming weeks, could not be reached.
John Ryan, spokesman for HSBC in Hong Kong, did not return messages by press time and Takayuki Inoue, spokesman for Merrill in Tokyo, declined comment.
