Barclays Capital has hired Anthony Wah, head of equity derivative sales at ABN AMRO in Hong Kong, in a newly-created role as head of the sales structuring group for non-Japan Asia, based in Hong Kong.

Wah, who starts today, reports to Justin Bull, head of sales in Hong Kong. "This is part of our overall buildout in distribution within Asia and globally," said Bull. Wah will oversee a team of five staff for the effort.

Bull also noted the growing opportunities for structured products in the region. "It's quite an exciting time," he said, adding, "There's continued market speculation in currencies, tremendous saving rates driving interest for fund derivatives, currency plays and commodities, as well as credit volatility caused by General Motors Corp. and Ford Motor Co."
