Poor performance drags down new issues
The spread widening in the secondary market has put the brakes on the frenetic pace of issuance over the first two weeks of January. Credit Suisse, Banco Popolare Societa Cooperativa and Intesa Sanpaolo were all able to get deals done but investors are dragging their feet and starting to demand higher new issue premiums.
