First-mover Deutsche shows the way to the capital-hungry as banks digest Basel III

Equity analysts spent much of the week disagreeing about the likely equity-raising candidates after the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision released its plans for minimum levels of bank capital. But ECM bankers agreed that Deutsche Bank, by moving quickly to mop up Deutsche Postbank, a deal it will fund with a rights issue of at least Eu9.8bn, would benefit from first-mover advantage.
