Short floaters the order of the day as Ireland fears hit markets

As renewed sovereign panic hit markets, short end floating rate notes were the trade of choice for senior unsecured bonds across Europe on Wednesday and Thursday.

Orders are coming in for a two year floater for Italy’s Banca Popolare di Vicenza, while in Norway SpareBank 1 SMN sold a 3.5 year floater on Wednesday, and SpareBank 1 SR Bank is considering following it.
