BBVA hires heavy hitter to head bond syndicate

An experienced senior syndicate banker on Monday returned to the market after an 18 month absence to lead a push into the credit markets by Spain’s BBVA.

BBVA hired FIG heavyweight Peter Apostolicas as its global head of bond syndicate, a newly created position.

Apostolicas was co-head of Citi’s European debt syndicate until January 2009, having spent 17 years at the US bank.
