Short end joy for Spanish and Italian banks, now for long end?

Spanish and Italian banks printed some large pieces of commercial paper this week, but dealers believe the proof of increased market confidence in banks from these countries will be to what extent they can borrow at longer maturities.

Banco Popolar Español sold a Eu250m 66 day clip on Wednesday, while BBVA printed a Eu200m 124 day piece, following a Eu360m 91 day clip the day before. UBI Banca International sold a Eu180m 91 day print on Tuesday.
