Political crisis hits Italian bank bonds as 'jitters' set in

The prospect of Italy's government collapsing began to take its toll on bank debt markets on Thursday morning, with some new issues underperforming in light of the crisis.

Italia Viva, the party headed by former prime minister Matteo Renzi, withdrew its support for the government on Wednesday evening. 

The move left the cabinet short of three ministers and means the ruling coalition can no longer command a majority in the Senate.
