ESMA picks trio of candidates to be next chair

The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has sent three names to the European Council and the European Parliament as candidates to be its next chair, replacing Steven Maijoor.
Verena Ross, executive director at ESMA, is on the list, alongside Maria-Luis Albuquerque (pictured), a former finance minister of Portugal. Carmine Di Noia, commissioner at Italy's financial regulatory Consob, makes up the trio. Ross, a German national, joined ESMA in 2011.
