Arturo Cifuentes, managing director and senior CDO analyst at Wachovia Securities, has been raising eyebrows with his colorful research reports. Recently he devised a ranking of CDO managers that he compared to the ATP tennis rankings and the Forbes rich list (LMW, 2/14). In his latest work, an assessment of correlation assumptions within the three ratings agencies, he drops multiple references to daytime soap operas, including Guiding Light, Passions, As The World Turns, Days of Our Lives and One Life To Live. The title of the research is "The Young and The Restless, Correlation Drama at the Three Big Rating Agencies."
What's in a name...INVESCO Senior Secured Management is said to have named its series of CLOs after Avalon, a mythical utopian city. Not to be outdone Highland Capital Management's latest Southfork CLO is named after a large flowing river evoking an outdoorsy theme.
