Calyon Hires For High Yield

Calyon in London has hired Rajiv Mareachealee for its high yield capital markets desk. Mareachealee reports to Tim Hall, global head of high-yield debt and leveraged finance capital markets. Mareachealee is Hall's first hire since he joined Calyon in the fall to spearhead the bank's European high-yield effort (BW, 10/11) and Mareachaelee's responsibilities currently cover all aspects of capital markets activity. Hall said more hires are planned for next month.

Mareachealee has worked in high yield for the past seven years, most recently as an analyst at a London-based hedge fund, which he declined to name, focusing on high-yield and distressed debt. Before that he spent three and a half years as a high-yield research analyst at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein in London, and two years in high-yield corporate finance with Bear Stearns in New York.

Since announcing its intentions to set up a European high-yield capital markets desk, Calyon has been involved in two euro-denominated deals: Owens-Brockway Glass Container's first euro-denominated issue and a €500 million tap by French industrials company Rhodia.
