Stephen Weiss, managing director in high-yield research at Bear Stearns, started last week at Banc of America Securities as managing director and senior media and cable analyst. Weiss, an Institutional Investor-ranked cable and satellite analyst, declined comment. Calls to BofA were referred to Kelly Nugent, spokeswoman, who said Weiss' role is a new one and sectors are being realigned among existing analysts.
