MKP Capital Management, a fixed-income asset manager with $4 billion in assets, has hired Robert Kepler, an Institutional Investor-ranked director in research at Credit Suisse First Boston, as a portfolio manager in New York.
Kepler is being hired for a new role on the manager's MKP Opportunity global fixed-income hedge fund, which currently runs $850 million. It will be reopened to new investors soon, added Carrie Simon, spokeswoman, who said Kepler is being brought on to help the fund dabble in new areas such as commodities.
The fund only invests in liquid fixed-income products such as government bonds and does not invest in credit assets. It was formed in 2001. Overall, MKP runs $2.5 billion in hedge fund assets and another $1.5 billion in other vehicles, including four collateralized debt obligations.
