CALYON, the merged Crédit Lyonnais and Crédit Agricole Indosuez bank, has hired Kang Yeong Woo, interest rate trader at BNP Paribas in Singapore, as head of the newly minted interest rate, currency and commodities trading group in the capital markets division in the Lion City. "K.Y. has worked at JPMorgan (DW, 4/29/02) and BNP and has solid experience in regional currency, interest rate swap, and [non-deliverable forward] trading," said Frédéric Lainé, Asian head of rates and fx at CALYON in Hong Kong, to whom Woo now reports. Lainé noted that Woo will primarily focus on trading for Singapore and Thailand. Woo was traveling and could not be reached. Woo replaces Nicholas Gallet, head of interest rate trading at CAI in Singapore, who left the firm last month, according to market officials. Gallet could not be reached by press time.

At BNP, Woo reported to Roy Chan, head of interest rate trading in Singapore. Chan declined comment.
