Royal Liver Asset Managers is planning to launch a UCITS III structure this year which will make full use of derivative products and will likely be sold in Ireland as well as the U.K. Adrian Bond, head of collective investments in Liverpool, said it has been looking at so-called UCITS (Undertakings for Collective Investment in Transferable Securities) funds--which allow fund to be sold throughout Europe--for some time. "We think [UCITS III] is the area where things are potentially going to explode," he added.
The product is likely to be referenced to a basket of actively managed funds within the UCITS framework. Royal Liver is currently researching the details of 'passporting' the product to Ireland under the UCITS scheme, explained Bond.
