UBS recently hired a team of structurers from Nomura Securities for its equity desk in Tokyo. Michio Yasuda, structurer at Nomura, has joined as the head of equity solutions, Yoshinori Funato has joined as executive director in equity risk management products, Shohei Sakai has come on board as a director in equity risk management products, and Takayuki Hamada, will be an analyst in equity risk management products. The new hires are to bulk up UBS' equity structuring capabilities, according to Kakuko Suzuki, spokeswoman at UBS.
At UBS the four reported to Michel Lee, head of structured products in Tokyo, who confirmed the departures but declined further comment. Mitch Hayes, spokesman at Nomura, said Hiroshi Matsutani, structurer in Tokyo, now heads the desk.
