JPMorgan plans to start marketing retail structured products in Singapore after the success of its first hybrid structured note for Hong Kong-based retail investors. The U.S. firm is also lining up a second offering in Hong Kong, which Lionel Semonin, Asian head of the third-party group in Hong Kong, said will be issued next month.
The first JPMorgan note, called Abacus, marked the firm's initial foray into selling retail products in Asia under its own brand, but distributed via local banks (DW, 11/5). Semonin noted the well-established nature of retail structured products in Singapore make it a suitable market for its next effort.
