Lehman Brothers has bolstered its Korean fixed income team with two hires. James Lee, derivatives marketer at UBS in Hong Kong, and Stephen Shin, derivatives marketer at Merrill Lynch in Hong Kong, have joined in similar roles for Lehman's Hong Kong-based fixed income derivatives desk, according to market officials. The moves are part of the ongoing expansion of coverage for Korea, spurred by Joonkee Hong, head of global finance in Hong Kong, who recently joined from Merrill where he was head of Korea debt markets (DW, 3/25). Hong had also spent much of his career at UBS. Hong and Tony Wong, spokesman for Lehman, did not return messages by press time.
At UBS, Lee reported to Philip Tsao, co-head of debt capital markets in Hong Kong, who was traveling. At Merrill Shin reported to Samir Atassi, director in the strategic solutions group in Hong Kong. He did not return calls by press time.
