Merrill Lynch in London has hired Makram Abboud from UBS in a new position as managing director and head of emerging market sales. Abboud could not be reached for comment and Alex Walker, spokeswoman, declined comment on the detail of the role. He reports to Samir Atassi, head of emerging markets for Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa, who could not be reached by press time.
Rowan Staines, spokeswoman at UBS, said the firm does not comment on departures.
