Credit End User Of The Year

BLUEMOUNTAIN CAPITAL MANAGEMENT

Jeremy Barnum

BlueMountain Capital has stepped up in the past year from an innovative newcomer to a leading credit investor. Dealers and rivals see the trading effort led by Jeremy Barnum in London as the most nimble on the Street for cash and credit-default swap basis trading. Regarded as a trend setter, the fund's trading strategies--such as basis trading--have kept flow desks busy this past year, according to one hedge fund rival. "They are far above anyone else," commented a credit default swap sales head.

In the wider market, the firm has also been active in developing loan credit-default swaps, making sure there is a strong buyside voice in International Swaps and Derivatives Association efforts on standardization and documentation. The fund's effort to provide LCDS liquidity has pushed it a notch above competitors, according to credit heads in the U.S. Jeff Kushner, managing director, was a mover in developing the standard form for LCDS that laid the groundwork for the LCDX index.
