Merrill Lynch in Toronto has hired Pat Chiefalo, an analyst at hedge fund Waterfall Investments, for a new role covering structured derivative sales to institutions.

Merrill Lynch in Toronto has hired Pat Chiefalo, an analyst at hedge fund Waterfall Investments, for a new role covering structured derivative sales to institutions. Chiefalo will focus on equity-linked structures for pension funds and insurance companies in Canada.

Reached in Toronto, Chiefalo declined comment. He reports to Rasha Katabi, head of the strategic solutions group. Katabi could not be reached by press time and further details regarding the hire could not be determined.

Prior to joining Waterfall a year ago, Chiefalo was a technology analyst with Merrill. A call to Andrew McCreath, ceo of Waterfall in Toronto, regarding a replacement for Chiefalo was not returned.
