Barclays uses technical gain to offset £2.3bn subprime-linked loss
Barclays announced solid results for 2007 on Tuesday, with pre-tax profits up 3% after stripping out an exceptional gain from business disposals in 2006. The bank said this figure showed "the benefits of diversifying its business in recent years".
