Equity steps in where lenders fear to tread

Blue-chip Germany might have got its mojo back — and in doing so returned to its traditional financing of cheap bank credit — but smaller companies are facing up to a more difficult future. The Mittelstand might not be finally ready to give up its ancient antipathy to public equity markets but even so, changes are afoot in Germany’s small-cap capital markets. Nick Jacob reports.
