The move by Singapore’s state investment agency to hire Charles Goodyear as its next chief executive appeared inspired. Yet four months later it said he would not be taking up the position. There seem to have been sharp differences of opinion over how the firm should be run, but Temasek should not now abandon its plans to bring in a bold new worldly leader.
