Braitsch takes RBS futures and options role
UBS’ Joseph Braitsch has moved to RBS to become the bank’s Asia Pacific head of futures and options business within RBS Prime Services. He will also head the electronic futures execution team.
Braitsch joins from UBS where he spent almost 12 years, most recently as Apac head of futures & options and cash high frequency and Japan head of exchange traded derivatives. Braitsch will be based in Singapore, reporting regionally to David Gray, head of prime services Apac and to Jeremy Wright, global head of futures & options.
Lombard Odier reorganises Asia management team
Vincent Magnenat has succeeded Richard Wee as CEO of Lombard Odier Singapore with effect from 3 December 2012.
Wee, an existing member of the Lombard Odier Singapore Board, has been appointed to the newly created position of vice chairman of the Board to oversee regional strategy. He will continue to serve private clients.
Magnenat reports to Vincent Duhamel, head of Asia for Lombard Odier. As Singapore CEO, Magnenat will oversees the growth of both the private banking and the asset management businesses in Southeast Asia. Magnenat, who has worked in Asia for almost a decade, joins Lombard Odier from Société Générale, where he was most recently regional head of sales and marketing for Asia, based in Hong Kong and previously, in Singapore. He has also worked at Credit Suisse Private Bank in Switzerland and Singapore, as well as Winterthur Life Insurance in Switzerland.
See joins Coutts as COO
Jeff See has joined Coutts as as managing director, chief operating officer for Asia, effective 7 January 2013.
Based in Hong Kong, See will report jointly to Tom Lack, head of operations for the wealth division and Michael Blake, general manager for Coutts Asia. He joins from UBS where he spent the past 14 years working in London, New York and Hong Kong in various risk, finance and management roles. At UBS he most recently held COO roles covering UBS’s ultra high net worth and global family office businesses.
BlackRock appoints HK retail head
BlackRock has hired Julia Lee as director and head of retail distribution in Hong Kong as part its reorganisation of retail business in Asia.
The asset manager recently combined its iShares and BlackRock Asia sales teams meaning investors can buy it its exchange traded fund products and mutual funds from one team.
She will report to Heather Pelant, head of retail and private bank distribution for Hong Kong, Singapore and Southeast Asia. Lee joins from ING Investment Management where she had been working as head of wholesale and business development in Hong Kong.
New standards chief for CFA Institute
Market veteran Dr. Tony Tan has joined the CFA Institute as head of standards and financial market integrity, Asia Pacific, with responsibility for the association’s advocacy, policy development and regulatory outreach in the region.
Tan’s 20 years in the banking and finance industry include running the global trading operation of a UK bank, developing the corporate finance capabilities of a Japanese bank in the Asia Pacific region and managing the financial risk exposures of BP in the Asia Pacific region. Prior to joining CFA Institute, he was the CEO of Governance & Treasury Advisory Services.
Manulife AM bolsters HK equity team
Manulife Asset Management has hired Oscar Leung as senior portfolio manager dedicated to the Hong Kong China equity market. Based in Hong Kong, he reports to Ronald CC Chan, head of equities, Asia.
Leung has more than 24 years in investment management including 10 as a senior investment manager for Hong Kong China equities with ING Investment Management. He also spent nine years with Nomura Asset Management (Hong Kong).
