Fisher exits CS equity syndicate
Joss Fisher, managing director has stepped down from his role as head of equity syndicate non-Japan Asia at Credit Suisse.
Fisher, who took on the top syndicate role in June 2011, is believed to have stepped down at the end of last year after spending nine years at the bank. The bank is is yet to appoint a sucessor, Asiamoney PLUS understands.
He was promoted from being head of ECM distribiuon for equity sales in Asia Pacific and replaced Ross Baildon who left Credit Suisse after being offered a role as head of Asia ECM syndicate at UBS, Asiamoney PLUS reported at the time.
It is not clear whether Fisher will be joining another bank. He was unable to be reached for comment. Credit Suisse declined to comment.
Yacenda joins BoA-Merrill as Asia COO
Jennifer Taylor, chief operating officer (COO) of Asia Pacific has been named COO of Europe and emerging markets (ex-Asia) at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, according to an internal memo dated February 28, seen by Asiamoney PLUS.
She will relocate to London in the second quarter of this year, and report to Steve Tighe, global banking and markets chief of staff and Alex Wilmot-Sitwell, president of Europe and emerging markets (ex-Asia) at the bank. Taylor has worked as COO for Asia since 2007.
She will be replaced by Richard Yacenda, who will join the bank at the end of May. He will be based in Hong Kong and will report to Tighe as well as to Matthew Koder, president of Asia Pacific.
He joins from Deutsche Bank, where he was managing director and deputy COO for Asia Pacific since 2006. Before this he worked at Goldman Sachs for 21 years. He has worked in Asia for the last 16 years, in Hong Kong, Beijing and Singapore.
Credit Suisse Apac COO departs
Dumith Fernando, chief operating officer (COO) for Asia Pacific at Credit Suisse, is leaving the bank. He will be replaced by Andrew Morgan, global head of tax and chief financial officer (CFO) for Asia Pacific.
He will take on the title of COO in addition to his current role. Fernando joined the bank in 2007 and was named regional COO towards the end of 2010.
BoA-Merrill’s Sharma joins Credit Suisse
Ashish Sharma has joined Credit Suisse as head of loan syndications for Asia Pacific, as reported by Asiamoney PLUS’s sister publication EuroWeek Asia.
He joins from Bank of America Merrill Lynch where he was head of Asian loan syndications, and he replaces Justin Crane three months after he left the bank. Sharma will be based in Hong Kong, reporting to Ali Abbas Alam and Riddhi Shah, co-heads of emerging markets financing at the Swiss bank.
Sharma worked at BoA-Merrill for the last 16 years, and was head of Asian loans since January 2009.
Houstone to head RBS Aussie DCM
James Houstone has been appointed head of debt capital markets (DCM) for Australia at Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS). He joined the bank in March 2007 and was named head of financial institutions DCM for Australia and New Zealand in 2012.
He will report to the bank’s country head Andrew Chick. Before joining the bank he was head of DCM for Nomura in Australia. In addition, Gwen Greenberg has been named head of corporate DCM, having worked for the bank’s DCM team since 1998.
Barclays appoints head of Asean equity research
Anand Ramachandran has been promoted to head of Asean equity research at Barclays. He will be based in Singapore, and continues to report to Jon Scoffin, head of research for Asia Pacific.
He joined the bank in 2011 as head of telecoms, internet and media sector in Asia ex-Japan equity research, and will continue with these responsibilities in addition to leading and developing the bank’s Asean equity research business.
StanChart hires commodity structured finance chief
Standard Chartered has appointed Michael Jakubik as global head of commodity structure finance. He is based in Singapore and reports to Arun Murthy, global head of commodities at the bank.
He joins from Standard Bank in London, where he was head of commodity structured solutions.
Pimco’s Apac head retires
Ki Myung Hong has left his position as Hong Kong based head of Asia Pacific, at Pimco. He will be replaced in the near term by Douglas Hodge, the firm’s global chief operating officer (COO).
Hong joined the firm in July 2010, from Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he was regional vice chairman and president of Asia Pacific. Before this he was Asia co-head of credit and rates at J.P. Morgan.
GIC Asset Management names new president
Jeffrey Jaensubhakij has been appointed president of GIC Asset Management (GAM), taking over from Lim Chow Kiat, who will focus on his role as chief investment officer (CIO) for the group. He was named CIO on February 1.
Jaensubhakij moves from his current role as the firm’s president for Europe, and will relocate from London to Singapore. He joined GIC in 1998. Lim Kee Chong, current deputy president of GAM and director of global equities will take on the position of deputy group CIO. Lim has been working for GIC since 1987.
Ang Eng Seng will take on the role of GIC’s president for Europe and will be based in London.
Lam to head ECM at China Renaissance Securities
Jason Lam has joined China Renaissance Securities as managing director and head of equity capital markets (ECM).
He moves to the role from his position as co-head of technology coverage for Asia at Credit Suisse. He will be based in Hong Kong and report to Frank Au, president of China Renaissance Securities. Before working for Credit Suisse, Lam was with UBS Investment Bank’s Asia technology team.
Brown Brothers Harriman shuffles securities lending
Robert Lees is relocating from Hong Kong to London as part of a reorganisation of the securities lending team at Brown Brothers Harriman. He will report to Mark Payson, global head of trading. Lees has worked for the firm for ten years, spending the last three in Asia, where he oversaw the launch of the securities lending trading desk in Hong Kong.
In addition, Zubair Nizami has joined the firm from Robeco Hong Kong, to head the Asia trading desk in Hong Kong, reporting to Lees. In his previous role he was responsible for securities lending trading for Asia.
