ECB rate cut drives down periphery yields after bountiful week
The European Central Bank did Italy and Spain a big favour this week, as the sovereigns’ yields tumbled in secondaries following a cut in the central bank’s interest rates. The ECB’s decision rounded out a strong week of issuance for the issuers and should provide benign conditions for the remainder of their 2013 funding programmes.
