Barclays appoints financial sponsor director, US high yield head

Barclays Capital has named Tyrone Cooney as a director in its financial sponsor coverage team, Paris.

Cooney leaves Royal Bank of Scotland's Paris office, where he was a director in the leveraged finance group.

He reports jointly to John Leach, head of continental European financial sponsors coverage in London, and Jean Barbizet, managing director and country head, France.

In a separate move, Barclays Capital has hired Paul Phaneuf to head up its US high yield capital markets and mezzanine finance in New York. Phaneuf leaves his position as head of high yield at Crédit Lyonnais Securities.
