New career path as O’Connell retires early from BoA Merrill
Patrick O’Connell is leaving Bank of America Merrill Lynch and taking early retirement. He says he is taking time out until September 2010 while he ponders his new career path, which he says is unlikely to be at a large investment bank.
OConnell, 42, joined Merrill Lynch from Credit Suisse First Boston in 1995 as a credit trader and joined the syndicate desk in 1998.
He had been head of European syndicate since 2006, with a particular focus on bank capital.
