Real money buyers nibble but senior still shaky

Sustained buying — although in small volumes — from real money accounts of senior unsecured bonds this week helped bring banks’ secondary cash spreads back from last week’s wides.

Although cash spreads widened on Thursday as bank shares plummeted yet again, most banks’ senior bonds were still tighter on the week. One syndicate banker said French banks were still 10bp-15bp tighter, despite widening by 5bp-10bp on Thursday.
