Cocos must be demystified, says BoE’s Fisher

The Bank of England’s executive director for markets this week raised concerns that investors had been buying contingent capital securities on the assumption that they will never be triggered.

Paul Fisher, who is also a member of the bank’s monetary and financial policy committees, said that Cocos remained a potentially attractive proposition, but that investors’ attitudes towards them could create problems in a crisis.
