  • Debt market activity from Italian local authority issuers continued apace this week as the Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia issued a Eu328m deal, the Region of Veneto mandated Depfa for a Eu250m private placement and the Region of Tuscany sent out requests for proposals for an Eu80m 35 year deal.
  • Prudential M&G, the UK asset manager, has appointed John Foy as its new head of leveraged finance. He replaces Mike Ramsay, who left in August for the Carlyle Group, which hired him to start up a leveraged finance debt business. Foy will head the existing seven person debt team at Prudential M&G, which includes directors Andrew Boughen, Fiona Hagdrup and Iain Macdonald. He will report to Mark Hutchinson, head of the private finance group.
  • Global coordinator JP Morgan has launched the $130m-$168m IPO of TVN, the Polish national commercial television station. CA-IB, the investment banking arm of Bank Austria, and CDM Pekao are joint books on the deal, which will give the company an equity value of Z1.7bn-Z2.2bn ($529m-$660m), based on a share price range of Z26.5-Z33.5.
  • Struggling German retailer KarstadtQuelle will launch a Eu1.75bn three year loan through its key relationship banks imminently, EuroWeek hears. The deal is part of the borrower's restructuring programme, and will be led by BayernLB and ABN Amro. A further 16 banks will also be involved in the syndication, which is due to be finalised before the company's extraordinary general meeting on November 22. A rights issue has also been announced, in which the borrower hopes to raise Eu500m.
