This may be the last edition of MTNWeek, but the market should not consider itself to be free from prying eyes. Leak will still be watching, listening and dishing the dirt from the pages of EuroWeek, starting on July 12. To all those who have helped keep Leak in business over the years - go on, have another drink! This week BNP Paribas's Daniel Cogoi showed off a rare ability to drink, talk and admire art at the same time. The bank's press party was held in the Royal Academy in London on Monday evening, with its summer exhibition on display. mtn-i's Mike Tims and Capital Market Daily (CMD)'s Pieter van Dyck were there comparing their MTN news services. Naturally they each hate to be outdone by the other and were soon competing even on telling the most amusing anecdote. Pieter revealed his lack of appreciation for youth lingo when he related how journalist Joti Mangat, who joined CMD from MTNWatch, has left the dotcomer to "compose music of a type in between hard house and garage". Otherwise known as being a DJ. But Tims was not to be outdone and let the cat out of the bag about his Victorian mansion in south London being the set of an up-and-coming film. Leak would not like to judge which of the two tells the more convincing story. In the world of banking proper, Morgan Stanley's Richard Tynan has become the second member of the desk to become a father. Richard's son is called Benjamin Elliot... so it can now be revealed that Richard's wife became pregnant for a B.E.T. Congratulations Richard... and excuse the cheeky remark, Mrs Tynan! Finally, RBS's Sanjay Sofat has found a place to display his Best MTN borrower 2002 award... he has moved into a new house. But Sanjay is feeling foxed. His garden has been attracting the local foxes (unfortunately of the bushy-tailed and chicken-eating variety), who have been taking liberties in his garden. The foxes have been eating Sanjay's plants. Just don't let them get their paws on your award.
