Hourican reviews RBS investment banking
John Hourican, who yesterday (Monday) replaced Brian Crowe as chief executive of Royal Bank of Scotland’s global markets operations, is undertaking a strategic review of his business and is expected to back plans for the bank to quit structured credit and make severe cuts to the bank’s principal finance and real estate operations. Within RBS, senior bankers still see leveraged finance as a core business while the emerging markets franchise remains a driver of growth.
