Capital markets union “my dream”, says Barnier

Michel Barnier, outgoing vice-president of the European Commission, has described a real European capital market as “my dream, which can be inherited by my successor”, writes Owen Sanderson.

Barnier, speaking to a committee of the UK’s House of Lords in Brussels, said: “Projects could be funded anywhere in Europe fairly, taking into account the risk that they pose, rather than the country where the project is to be carried out.
