Nordea joins neighbours on funding hunt

The focus of bank recapitalisation shifted to the Nordic region this week as Swedish bank Nordea joined SEB on the recapitalisation trail with the launch of a Eu2.5m rights issue on Tuesday.

Then Finland’s Pohjola Bank yesterday announced a Eu300m rights issue, which could launch within a month. Combined, Nordea, SEB and Pohola are asking shareholders for Eu4.19bn.
