Commerz clinches Dresdner, level two DCM and ECM roles defined

Commerzbank made an unexpected move yesterday evening to accelerate its takeover of Dresdner Kleinwort, which it will purchase at a lower price than the agreed Eu9bn.

Allianz, which is selling Dresdner, is set to forgo the Commerzbank shares it would have received as part of the agreement. Both parties cited volatile financial markets as the reason they are keen to speed up the acquisition process which had been scheduled to end in 2009.
