Debt exchange boosts Lloyds rights issue

Lloyds Banking Group got off to a strong start in its record £13.5bn rights issue on Tuesday as it revealed the terms of the deal after reporting a high take-up level on its contingent capital exchange offer a day earlier.

The Lloyds share price rallied 1.5% on Tuesday.

A banker working on the deal said the share price gains reflect the general momentum behind Lloyds’ recapitalisation story. “The completion of the debt piece on Monday has been positive for the bank.”
