EBA reveals core tier one definition

The European Banking Authority on Friday clarified its definition of core tier one capital for its upcoming stress tests, announcing that banks would need to meet a 5% minimum threshold under the adverse scenario to pass the test.

For the purpose of the tests, the EBA will take European banks’ existing tier one holdings and strip out all hybrid instruments and preference shares to measure core tier one capital.
