Growth, sovereign debt concerns hindering bank funding: BIS

Worries over growth and sovereign debt have hampered banks’ market access but institutions can only mitigate the effect of sovereign credit risk, not get rid of it altogether, according to the Bank of International Settlements.

Deteriorating sovereign creditworthiness had continued to adversely affect banks’ funding cost and market access, BIS said in its quarterly review of international banking and financial market developments.
