Car issuers close in on record month of MTNs

Carmakers used debuts in new currencies to help them near a record month for medium term note issuance — even though May is only half gone.

Auto issuers have sold $2.7bn of MTNs in May so far, just short of their $3bn record in May last year, according to Dealogic. Many of them have printed in currencies for the first time or after a hiatus.
