Société Générale dropped a €500m marker this week as the resurgence of French banks in commercial paper and certificates of deposit gathered momentum.

Having seen their outstandings drop sharply in the latter half of 2011, with US investors in particular fleeing from their paper, French banks are now enjoying a far sunnier position in the short term markets.
