Europe IPO outlook bleak despite better global picture in Q2

The performance of global equity capital markets in the second quarter has been far more encouraging than market sentiment would indicate, said consultancy Ernst & Young in its quarterly report on IPOs this week. However, the mood in the European market remains depressed, with cancelled IPOs and a lack of large deals resulting from instability in the eurozone.

So far this quarter, some 206 deals have raised almost $42bn, an increase on the first quarter of 5% by the number of deals executed and 141% by capital raised. Facebook’s $16bn IPO made up 38% of this quarter’s total, but even without that deal, overall global capital ...
