ECB nominates EBA chair to run banking supervision

The European Central Bank’s governing council backed Andrea Enria, chair of the European Banking Authority, to become its head of banking supervision.

Enria, who is Italian, will be invited to a public hearing at the European Parliament’s Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee (ECON). If he is approved to replace Danièle Nouy, the current chair, he will take on the new role on January 1, for a five year term.
