Irish banks begin broad capital restructuring

Bank of Ireland got its Eu3.421bn equity raising under way this week when it completed a Eu500m placement of shares to institutional investors on Monday. Peer Allied Irish Banks is following suit with a large recapitalisation rights issue scheduled for the second half of this year.
