David Tepper¸ founder of Appaloosa Management, snapped at Walter Industries' management on the Monday morning conference call discussing the company's acquisition of Mueller Water Products. Unlike the other hedge fund managers that were on the call and mainly wanted to know what the plans for the business were going to be, Tepper was most appalled at the timing and advance notice of the call, or lack thereof. "This call at 8:30 in the morning--I don't think a lot of people got to know about the call...It would be a good idea to have another call after your financials are available," Tepper advised management. "8:30 after the weekend was not a good idea when you don't even have a call-in number available," the legendary hedge fund manager added. Tepper was not without his own phone problems this week, though. When LMW attempted to reach him for comment, his New Jersey office was stuck in a Thunder storm Wednesday, knocking power out temporarily.
