South Asians form a large proportion of the workforce in Gulf states, and the public face of this demographic is construction. Financial services are geared to cater for this foreign population, with banks creating dedicated divisions. But the need for labour reforms and increasing job opportunities at home, especially in India and Pakistan, begs the question: just who depends on whom? Chris Wright reports.
